How long does an EV charger installation take?
Most straightforward installs take three to five hours and are finished in a single visit. If your switchboard needs upgrading first, that adds a day and a separate inspection.
Do I need a network notification for an EV charger in New South Wales?
Yes. An electrical network notification is required and the work has to pass inspection. We pull the network notification and meet the inspector as part of the job — you do not need to arrange anything.
How do I know if my electrical switchboard can handle a charger?
It comes down to a load calculation, not just the switchboard's amp rating. Homes built after about 2000 usually have 80A service with spare capacity. Older homes on 60A service often need an upgrade. We check before quoting.
Can you install a charger I already bought?
Yes. We install customer-supplied units regularly, including Tesla, ChargePoint, Wallbox, Emporia and Grizzl-E. The install price is the same either way.
What does it cost?
A standard install with a short cable run is typically A$600 to A$1,200 in labour and materials, excluding the charger itself. Long runs, outdoor trenching or a switchboard upgrade increase that. We give a flat quote before starting.
